Youth & Education
The Youth and Education Initiative is a Local Training Initiative (LTI). This is a 52 week training programme managed locally by Leitrim Integrated Development Company and sponsored by Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education Training Board and the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection. The aim of the training programme to provide a broad base of social/work related transferable skills which are appropriate to entering/remaining in employment/further education.
The training programme offers QQI/FETAC modules at level 3 and 4 leading to the Major Award of Employability Skills at Level 3 and Pathway to Employment (General Learning) at Level 4.
During the first 26 weeks all participants will be given the opportunity and support to complete all of the Level 3 modules and attain the Level 3 Major Award. In the following 26 weeks, previous Level 3 learners and/or new Learners will be given the opportunity and support to complete all the Level 4 modules and attain the Level 4 Major Award. As well as modules aimed at preparing participants for employment there is also some job specific vocational modules that are available including Catering, Information Technology, Horticulture and Health Related Fitness.
Upon completion of the training programme participants, according to their ability, will be able to progress to undertaking further qualifications within the context of the National Framework of Qualifications.
