Phase One Group was set up in 2012 as a non-profit organisation with the aim to put Carrick-on-Shannon’s music and visual arts facilities on the Irish cultural map. Their mission is to stage an annual music and arts festival with a programme of quality events, exhibitions and community activities that showcase the work of local artists and engage with the wider music and arts scene in Ireland, whilst attracting visitors and media interest from outside the region for the cultural, social and economic benefit of the artists and wider community. The Phase one Electronic Music and Arts Festival first took place in Carrick on Shannon in 2013. The festival was run in collaboration with the Dock Arts Centre. The programme included film, visual art, digital art and music. The festival brings together both popular and less well-known genres of electronic music and incorporates them with multi-media and visual arts for the entertainment and enjoyment of all. The group were successful in receiving funding for the design and print of flyers, posters, event programme, road signage and venue signage, hire of portoloos, purchase of a projector, security barriers and audio equipment.
