Leitrim Development Company, Mental Health Ireland, HSE Connecting for Life, Breffni Mental Health Association, Leitrim PPN and a number of community organisations will be hosting events in Leitrim over the course of World Mental Health Week 2024 from 7th to the 11th of October. A series of talks, events, workshops and activities will be held during the week and will continue throughout October to promote positive mental health in Leitrim. All events are free. The Wellbeing Fair will be held on Wednesday 9th of October from 10am to 2pm in the Landmark Hotel in Carrick on Shannon. There will be a range of stands with information from all agencies working in the area of positive mental health and wellbeing. There are also four free workshops to choose from including: Mindfulness , Creativity for Wellbeing, Soundbath and an Art Workshop. Registration for
workshops will take place on the day and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Raising Emotionally Healthy Children talk with Paul Gilligan will take place in the W8 in Manorhamilton on Tuesday 8th October 6.30 pm. Paul is author of two parenting books, Keeping Your Child Safe (2008) and Raising Emotionally Healthy Children (2015). He is an internationally recognised children’s rights advocate and a Fellow of the Psychological Society of Ireland. This talk will focus on children’s mental health, discussing the role of the parent or guardian in supporting a child’s mental health. Strategies and tools that parents and guardians can use to support their child’s mental health, as well as their own mental health.This talk is recommended for parents and all those who are caring for a child of primary or secondary school age. Connect Café will take place on Tuesday 8th of October at 10.30am in the Island Theatre Ballinamore. The Connect Café will open up conversations and strengthen the connections with ourselves and others. Tea/Coffee are scones will be served.
Woodland Walks are based on Woodlands for Health which is a nature based intervention programme aimed at improving and maintaining good mental health. Walks will take place in Miltown Forest Manorhamilton on October 7th at 10am and Derrycarne woods on October 10th at 10am TBC
