Community Development Supports
Leitrim Development Company provides development support to community based groups operating in disadvantaged areas throughout Leitrim under the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme(SICAP). A range of marginalised groups are supported including people with disabilities, new communities, Travellers and people living in disadvantaged communities
Community Development Supports
Development support and training is provided to new and established groups in disadvantaged areas with planning, accessing funding and implementing projects to benefit their areas.
Community groups are supported and encouraged to have a social inclusion focus and practical supports and training are provided on ways of engaging and including marginalised groups in their structures, plans and activities
Residents' Associations on local authority estates are provided with assistance to organise, develop plans, access funding and liaise with Leitrim County Council and other agencies.
Community groups are provided with support to enable them to become involved in networks and decision making structures. Groups are assisted to register for the Public Participation Networks (PPN). Groups can register here
Support is provided to the following community networks: South Leitrim Community Network, North Leitrim Community Network, Leitrim Residents' Network, Leitrim Active Age Forum and Cairde Liatroma Disability Network.
Active age groups are provided with development support, information, funding for new projects and networking meetings.
A survey of community buildings throughout the county is being undertaken to establish the support needs of community centre committees throughout the county.
Information seminars and training events are organised in conjunction with community networks.
Supports are provided to groups and projects supporting integration of new communities.
